Enterprise
Ireland FP7 Ireland Information & Support Unit
Enterprise
Ireland (EI) has set up a dedicated unit to provide a National
Information & Support Service to potential participants in
FP7. EI act as the national coordiation unit for Ireland in FP7.
It will disseminate information and will work in cooperation with
the national representatives for the various specific areas of
FP6. It will also participate in the Europe-wide network of National
Contact Points providing a mechanism for identifying partners
in other countries with whom Irish organisations can collaborate.
CORDIS FP7
Whether you are a newcomer to EU-funded R &D
programmes, or an experienced project participant, this service
can direct you to all of your FP7 information and participation
needs. This portal provides a single entry point to the family
of CORDIS web
services and tools.
European
Research Council
The EuropeanResearch
Council (ERC) is the first European funding body set up to support
investigator-driven frontier research. Its main aim is to stimulate
scientific excellence by supporting and encouraging the very best,
truly creative scientists, scholars and engineers to be adventurous
and take risks in their research. The scientists are encouraged
to go beyond established frontiers of knowledge and the boundaries
of disciplines.
Socio-Economic
Sciences and Humanities
Socio-economic sciences and the humanities’ (SSH) is a dedicated
programme on socio-economic sciences and humanities research with
the seventh Framework cooperation programme.

Net4Society
NET4SOCIETY is the international network of National Contact Points
for Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH) in the 7th European
Framework Programme (FP7). National Contact Points (NCPs) are
set up to guide researchers in their quest for securing EU funding.
Forfás
Forfás is the National Policy and Advisory Board for Enterprise,
Trade, Science, Technology & Innovation in Ireland. It is
the body in which the State's legal powers for industrial promotion
and technology development have been vested. It is also the body
through which powers are delegated to Enterprise Ireland for the
promotion of indigenous industry and to IDA Ireland for the promotion
of inward investment.

Research Directorate General
The Directorate Generals mission is evolving as work on
the European Research Area (ERA) continues. It can be summarised
as follows:
- to
develop the European Unions policy in the field of research
and technological development and thereby contribute to the
international competitiveness of European industry;
- to
coordinate European research activities with those carried out
at the level of the Member States;
- to
support the Unions policies in other fields such as environment,
health, energy, regional development etc;
- to
promote a better understanding of the role of science in modern
societies and stimulate a public debate about research-related
issues at European level.
