NORFACE

'New Opportunities for Research Funding Agency Co-operation in Europe'

NORFACE is a partnership between twelve national social science research councils (Estonia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom) to increase co-operation in research and research policy in Europe. NORFACE is an ambitious five year programme of communication, sharing of expertise, research initiatives and will result in the launch of a European research programme. NORFACE is funded by the European Commission‘s 6th Framework Programme (under the ERA-NET scheme) and the seminar series is funded by the partners.

NORFACE is an ambitious programme of communication, enquiry and sharing of expertise. Over the five years (2004-2008), the partners will engage in a range of initiatives designed to deliver new levels of co-operative research policy and practice. The plan of work follows a logical progression from putting governance and good management of the NORFACE network in place, to information exchange, analysis, research co-operation and strategic thinking and, finally, co-operation on two pilot programmes and setting up a full scale transnational programme of research activity.

NORFACE receives its core funding from the European Commission‘s Framework Programme, under the ERA-NET scheme and the research activities are funded by the partners.

Funding opportunities are available for Irish Researchers under the Seminar Series Schemes and the Transnational Research Programme (TNP).
