Picturing Revolution: Photography History and Irish National Identity, 1913-1922
This thesis explores photographic representations of revolutionary activity that resulted in the spatial destruction and reconstruction of Dublin between 1913-1922. It examines the use of revolutionary imagery in the construction of national identity, arguing that the photographs reflect the evolving urbanity and modernity of the future capital of the modern Irish state.

The Court of Admiralty of Ireland, 1575 to 1940
A history of the Court of Admiralty of Ireland from its inception, with special reference to the administrative and constitutional history of the Court, and to the history of admiralty legal doctrine in Irish law.

Person and Social Deixis in German and English: an empirical and contrastive study
The project examines the pragmatic categories of person and social deixis in German and English. Analysis of a wide variety of data (including primary data) and speech events, will contribute to the development of a more comprehensive theory in this area of pragmatics, and a framework for analysis.

The aim of this research is to situate the evolution and impact of EU and National policies on open and distance learning and eLearning within a social, political, pedagogical and individual learner context.

A Simulation Study of Irish Traditional Dance Music
An analytical study of the characteristics of Irish Traditional dance music, this project adopts a technology-based approach to the subject involving web-based algorithmic composition, music modelling, and analysis/synthesis methods. Structure, melodic and rhythmic content and performance style, provide the main focus of the study.

Evaluating Collaborative systems in an Extended Manufacturing Enterprise
Currently, many organisations are undertaking collaborative initiatives with members of their supply chain. The purpose of this research is to investigate how to evaluate the impact of collaborative systems between multiple supply chain partners. This project is developing and testing a new holistic framework to evaluate the interorganisational impact of collaborating through Internet-based systems.

Tales of Disconnection: The use of Accounting information to measure performance and facilitate management control in Irish hospitals
The purpose of the study is to examine

  • if there is evidence of New Public Management (NPM) in Irish healthcare management
  • the sources of influence on the changes taking place in hospital accounting control systems
  • if the changes are leading to an evaluation of performance measurement as it relates to (a) discharging accountability and (b ) facilitating management control by users of that information
  • the usefulness of information produced by the ACS to stakeholders in the hospital system

Ireland's Viking-Age Silver Hoards
A catalogue and analysis of Ireland's silver hoards, placing them in their broader context within the Viking-age archaeology of Scandinavia, Britain and the North Atlantic region.
